Isabelle O.

Isabelle O.Where do you work and what is your role in the company?

I work as a babysitter for a wonderful mom in Tacoma.

How do you usually get to work? How long have you been using this commute option?

I usually take the bus to work and have been doing this consistently for the past 4 months.

How far is your commute? How long does it take you each way?

My commute is about 40 minutes, give or take.

What made you decide to commute this way?

Driving is incredibly expensive, and I get a pass to use public transit through my University. It just works out best.

What do you enjoy about your commute?

Probably not having the stress that comes with finding parking and affording gas.

Do you have any interesting stories from your commute?

I think the fact that I’ve befriended my bus driver is my favorite thing to share!

Do you think you save money by commuting this way?

For sure, I don’t have to pay for gas as often anymore which is wonderful!

How does your company help accommodate your commute option? (ex: if you’re a biker, are there adequate bike racks? If a bus rider, does your company offer a free bus pass?)

The lady I work for is always super accommodating of if I’m a little late, my University provides me with a bus pass that I have unlimited rides with.

Is there anything your company could do better to accommodate your commute option?

Don’t think so!

What would you say to your fellow employees to inspire them to try using a commute option other than driving alone in their car?

If you have the ability to, it’s really nice to take public transit! It’s relaxing and you can zone out while reading or listening to music. Carpool is also fun because it keeps the drive interesting by being able to chat!
