Walk and Roll Through the Holidays

As we near the end of 2021, there are many holiday-themed events to check out across Pierce County. Pierce Trips has gathered information on a variety of these events from DuPont to Fife to University Place along with tips on how to arrive in a sustainable fashion. Check out events in your own neighborhood, or hop on a bike, bus, or scooter and see what neighboring towns are up to! 


Zoo Lights Nov. 26 - Jan. 2

Fantasy Lights Walk Through Experience

Step back into the Zoolights tradition you know and love: your Zoo, transformed into a colorful winter wonderland with over 800,000 lights. Closed Dec. 24 and 25. Open Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. Timed online tickets required. Masks are required throughout your Zoolights visit for all guests ages 5+.

Arrive at the zoo via walking, rolling, taking Razor Scooters, the Ruston Runner (Pierce Transit service), or Pierce Transit Route 10 and Route 11,

Ice Lights and Ice Bumper Cars, Dec. 1 - Jan. 2

ICE lights is a new lighted ice experience being offered during the holiday season at Sprinker Recreation Center. This year the ice rink will be transformed into a winter wonderland with over 35,000 lights and animated displays. Check back shortly for more details and a video preview of what you can expect!

Arrive at Sprinker Center via walking, rolling, or Pierce Transit Route 1.

Fircrest/University Place Holiday Lights Bike Ride, Thursday, Dec. 4, 6:30 p.m.

Join the Tacoma-Washington Bicycle Club for a beautiful 15-mile Holiday Lights Ride around Fircrest and University Place. They will bicycle some of the most decorated streets that are known for their brilliant holiday lights. Cyclists are encouraged to decorate their bicycles in their favorite festive holiday lights.

The ride will start at Espresso Yourself in Fircrest at 6:30 pm. The average pace may be 10-12mph. As always, no bicyclers will be left behind.

Arrive at Espresso Yourself via walking, rolling, or Pierce Transit Route 52.

City of DuPont Tree Lighting, Saturday, Dec. 4, 5 p.m.

Walk or roll to the City of DuPont's annual tree lighting event at Ross Plaza, 1500 Ross Loop.

Holiday Windows in Historic DuPont Village (self-guided walk tour), starting Sunday, Dec. 12

Explore DuPont’s original historic village on a self-guided walk to enjoy the festive spirit and creativity of the neighborhood. Windows will be lit until the finale on Dec. 22, when the DuPont Museum will host an evening Open House with refreshments and activities to welcome neighbors from DuPont and beyond.

DuPont Walking Tour (available year-round)

Visit interpretive signs in the City of DuPont to learn the history of the town which dates back over 5000 years.
